Distinct Swimming Behavior of Escherichia coli K-12 ATCC10798 Revealed by Fluorescence Imaging

چکیده
Swimming bacteria display distinct motile patterns to explore their favorable environments, driven by bacterial flagella. A typical example of the flagellar motility is run-tumble swimming in Escherichia coli: CCW rotation a bundle propels cell forward. The undergoes reorientation (tumbling) upon switching from CW. It has been characterized using chemotactic mutants for studies; however, original E. coli strain’s mode remains unclear. In this review, we K-12 forward and backward based on single-molecular techniques.

Unexpected Regularity in Swimming Behavior of Clausocalanus furcatus Revealed by a Telecentric 3D Computer Vision System
Planktonic copepods display a large repertoire of motion behaviors in a three-dimensional environment. Two-dimensional video observations demonstrated that the small copepod Clausocalanus furcatus, one the most widely distributed calanoids at low to medium latitudes, presented a unique swimming behavior that was continuous and fast and followed notably convoluted trajectories. Furthermore, prev...
متن کاملSelective iodine imaging using lanthanum K fluorescence.
Time-dependent subtraction techniques have tremendously improved the visualization of iodinated vessels. These techniques suffer from motion artifacts, however, since the mask image is acquired several seconds prior to the contrast image. A K-edge subtraction technique for selectively imaging iodine using the characteristic x rays from a lanthanum secondary target is presented. The K alpha line...
متن کاملAnalysis of magnetotactic behavior by swimming assay.
Prokaryotic organelles called magnetosomes allow magnetotactic bacteria to navigate along geomagnetic field lines. In this study, we modified a swimming assay commonly used to assess bacterial motility to develop a new method of assessing magnetotactic motility. By this method, the swimming assay was performed in an artificial magnetic field. Magnetotactic bacteria formed a wedge-shaped swimmin...
متن کاملOn the effect of grain size on rock behavior under cyclic loading by distinct element method
It is well-known that the mechanical behavior of rocks under cyclic loading is much different from static loading conditions. In most constructions, the load applied to structures is within dynamic ranges. That’s why a great deal of attention has been paid towards this field in order to identify the dynamic behavior of rocks in more details. Nevertheless, the nature of dynamic failure in rocks ...
متن کاملDistinct gating mechanisms revealed by the structures of a multi-ligand gated K+ channel
The gating ring-forming RCK domain regulates channel gating in response to various cellular chemical stimuli in eukaryotic Slo channel families and the majority of ligand-gated prokaryotic K(+) channels and transporters. Here we present structural and functional studies of a dual RCK-containing, multi-ligand gated K(+) channel from Geobacter sulfurreducens, named GsuK. We demonstrate that ADP a...
